PRIVACY POLICY
Schildbach Bitcoin Wallet
Rowix, LLC, based in Tbilisi, Georgia, publishes Schildbach Bitcoin Wallet. Contact us at info@rowix.com about this policy or your information.
Your wallet on your device
You do not create a publisher account to use the wallet. The app stores private keys, addresses, transactions, preferences, synchronization data, cached fees and exchange rates, and any address-book entries in its Android app storage. It uses these records to show your balance, generate receiving addresses and sign transactions locally. We do not operate a recovery account or hold a copy of your private keys. Spending protection and password-encrypted backup export are available; they are separate features.
Bitcoin and network connections
The app connects to Bitcoin peers to synchronize and broadcast payments. Peers receive protocol messages and can observe your connection address and infer wallet-related activity. Transactions contain public inputs, output addresses and amounts that remain on the Bitcoin blockchain.
When exchange rates are enabled, the app fetches general rates from CoinGecko. The rates request does not send your balance or private keys. Mainnet fee estimates come from wallet.schildbach.de/fees. These services receive normal connection information, including your network address; the fee request may include a cache timestamp. The providers control their own server logs. The app no longer contacts the upstream version-notice endpoint; Play-distributed updates are handled by Google Play.
Paper-wallet sweeping can query third-party Electrum servers for unspent outputs and transactions associated with script hashes. Private keys used to sign are not sent in these queries, but the queries reveal related financial activity. Bundled Electrum servers use TLS certificate verification. Bitcoin peer and supported payment protocols are not all encrypted, so we do not promise that every connection is encrypted or anonymous.
Opening an explorer sends the transaction identifier to your selected external explorer. Supported merchant payment requests contact the destination specified by that request. Third parties apply their own privacy policies. Tor use requires a separately installed and configured Orbot app.
Backups and permissions
Manual backups are encrypted with your chosen password and written through Android’s document picker to a location you select. That may be a local or cloud-backed provider, which can receive the encrypted file and file metadata. Restore reads the file you select. Android automatic app backup is disabled.
Camera access supports local QR scanning. Bluetooth and NFC exchange payment information with a destination you select. Notifications report wallet and synchronization events. Network, background-service and battery permissions support synchronization and payments. The app includes no advertising or analytics service.
Diagnostics and support
Operational logs and crash traces are stored locally. Reports are shared only when you choose the app’s reporting flow and a recipient in Android’s sharing interface; no support recipient is preset. Reports can contain your message, app/version details, crash traces and transaction information. Additional device information, logs and wallet dumps are optional and unchecked by default. Wallet dumps omit private keys but may reveal addresses, balances and history. Review all content and attachments before sharing.
If you email Rowix support, we receive your address, message and attachments. We use them to respond, investigate issues and maintain support records. We retain correspondence while needed to resolve the issue, handle follow-up questions, protect against abuse or meet applicable legal obligations. You may request deletion at info@rowix.com; we will explain any information we must retain and why. A different recipient you select controls their own handling.
Retention and deletion
Wallet data remains in app storage while you use the app. Clearing storage or uninstalling removes its ordinary private app data and can permanently remove access to your bitcoin if you lack a usable backup. Exported backups, shared reports and public blockchain transactions are not removed by uninstalling.
Local logs rotate daily and retain up to seven history periods as rotation occurs. Saved crash traces are removed when included in a report or dismissed. Other temporary report files can remain until cache cleanup or app-data deletion. Third-party services retain their own records, and Rowix cannot delete public blockchain data or records held by a provider you choose.
Security and policy changes
Android app isolation, available spending protection and encrypted backup export help protect wallet information. Device integrity and keeping credentials private are essential. No system guarantees security or anonymity. We will update this page if the app’s data practices change. For questions or deletion requests, contact info@rowix.com.
